About us

Basic sciences and Humanities is the foundation or can be said as the building block of all the different departments of Engineering. Basic sciences and Humanities include subjects as applied chemistry, applied physics, applied mathematics, environment and ecology and professional communication. This department has a major contribution in the school of engineering by providing the basic tools to be a perfect Engineer, with in-depth study of chemistry, physics and mathematics. Communication plays an important role in our professional lives which is provided through the study of professional communication. Knowing our environment is equally important for better living. Basic sciences is infact the core of Engineering.

Vision

To be a leading research and educational institute with emphasis on co-op training, industrial partnerships and entrepreneurial research activities

Mission

The Mission of the Department of Applied Science and Engineering is to provide our graduates with a well-rounded engineering education with specific emphasis on Applied science and engineering in order to meet the needs of industry, academia, and government; to conduct research at the frontiers of the field; and to provide an integrating and leadership role to the broad multi-disciplinary community.

Objectives

The objectives of the program are to provide a broad and basic education in multiple disciplines comprised of chemistry, physics, mathematics and language to ensure that all students are exposed to a wide spectrum of engineering knowledge and practice. The students would acquire sufficient fundamental knowledge to adapt quickly to the changes that are occurring and will continue to occur during their professional careers.
